Progress Report: Fall 2007
![]() |
This report covers our visit to the schools this summer. First is Srei Pou School. When our school first opened, so many students came (over 300) that a Norwegian NGO is now building second school there! On the left are some of our students with the first pens they’ve ever owned. Thanks to a gift from IBM, students at each of the schools got pens, books and paper. |

Kouy School: Teachers are now trained and we officially opened the school (right). There is still no road to the village and it was rainy season, so we had some difficulty negotiating the streams, as you can see on the left. We did see more houses in the village, more gardens and even a small trailside market. |

Poum Steung School: We started a fish-growing project, to be carried out by students and supervised by the teachers. On the left you see one of the students who performed when we came to give out uniforms and books, with her principal. We will add desks in the storage room for a 6th grade this year. Then, students will not have to leave the village until they go on to middle school. |

New Projects: Construction on our fourth school will begin once the rains stop. Here is a future student and his parents from that village. Sarith’s family donated land in the center of town for the project. When this school opens, we will be educating a thousand children per year in our four schools. We also started an English class this fall for poor village men living in Siem Reap. We hope this will help them get jobs in the tourist industry and be able to support a family. Again, Aukuhn sharan. Thank you from these young men, from all the school children and their families for your generosity. |
